Here at RooterPlus, we love plumbing, but we know that not everyone will find it quite as cool as we do. So, that is why we dug up these nine super cool and interesting plumbing facts. Now you can love plumbing as much as we do!

RooterPlus is proud to offer these fun facts and plumbing service to the Atlanta, Georgia area!

1. If you have a leaky faucet, even one that just drips once or twice an hour, you could end up wasting 180 gallons of water per month! In ten years’ time, you would have wasted over 20,000 gallons of water! That’s enough to fill a swimming pool.

2. The room that contains the toilet and sink is generally called a bathroom in America, but it has many other names around the world. The bathroom might be called a washroom, a lavatory, a loo, or just the toilet. Those in Tudor England would have referred to it as the privy, and even the Romans called it a necessarium.

3. The Plumbers and Steamfitters Union in Washington, DC, made Albert Einstein an honorary member because he was once quoted as saying if he had it to “do over again” he would have become a plumber.

4. Queen Elizabeth I had her own flushing toilet! It was built for her in 1596 by her godson, Sir John Harrington.

5. Liz wasn’t the only monarch of yore to have her toilet, however. History states that King Minos of Crete had a flushable toilet, or a “flushing water closet,” nearly 3000 years ago.

6. 38% of the water usage in an American is flushed down the toilet, and the average person spends nearly three years of his or her life sitting on the “throne.”

7. A study was conducted to determine how the majority of people put their toilet paper on the holder, flap over or under. The study supposedly cost nearly $100,000.

8. The most famous of all the plumbers in the world are…Mario and Luigi from the Super Mario Bros Nintendo game.

9. Japan is considered the technology capital of the world, and it may be because of their voice-activated urinals! Well, probably not, but they do have urinals that can flush via voice command.

RooterPlus may not have the technology to give you a voice-activated urinal in your home, but we can provide plumbing service in the Atlanta, Georgia area!
